How to fit a roof vent.
First head up to your attic and determine where you want to install your roof vent.

Remember to allow for the lip on the vent mechanism that will fit over the opening and rest on the surface of the roof.
Mark the outline of the roof cuts that will be needed then use a skill saw to cut the outlined space.
If your roof peak runs parallel to the street put them on the backside where they ll be less prominent.
Center the vents on the peak of your roof so the sides of the vent lay flat on the roof.
Momentarily lift the boot and apply sealant to hold the flashing in place.
Here is how you do it.
Place all the roof vents on the same side of the roof.
Measure the body of the vent.
Drill a hole upward through the middle of the area you desire and leave the drill bit sticking up through the roof so you can find it from the outside.
If you need to cut the vent to fit at the end of your roof use a utility knife to make it flush with your home.
Installing a roof plumbing vent is typically an easier task than flashing a chimney.
To install the vent the roofer slips the flange the metal lip of the vent under shingles at the upper part of the hole and rests the flange on top of the shingles at the down slope part of the hole.
Using the tape measure determine the size of the cut into the roof that will be necessary to insert the vent into the space.
Then cover the bottom of the adaptor with 3m marine sealant and clamp it to the roof until dry.
Locate the drill bit.
Record those measurements on a notepad.
If you are installing the roof vent in a place where there are ridges and uneven surfaces we recommend a roof vent adapter to make the installation process easier.
Apply a layer of sealant to the edges of the hole then place the vent into position.
Hold the vent piece in place until you can nail it down.
Next position your ladder against your home and climb up to your roof.
Use enough vent pieces to fill the length of the slot you cut.
